I saw some pictures of French voluntaires units. Thought it could maybe of interest to someone. Although in a "romantic, 19th century style, they give a good portray of revolutionary soldiers.
Very interesting indeed: uniforms so original they could be the pride of an Imagi-Nation! The drawings have a characteristic 'late 19th C.' style, and not all reconstitutions of the time are totally reliable; specially, the 'caterpillar' helmets look more like a *British* Tarleton than like the French helmet of 1791?
Some Emigres units also had very distinctive uniforms.
